How to Schedule Your School Visit
All guided and self-guided groups must make advance reservations. Reservations are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis and tend to fill up quickly. Please make your reservation as early as possible.
You may print and mail your reservation form, or submit a reservation request online.
Your reservation is not complete until you receive a confirmation with the exact time and date of your class visit. Unscheduled groups will not be admitted.
Reservation Calendar
Scheduling for guided or self-guided visits from October to January begins September 2; scheduling for guided or self-guided visits from February to June begins December 1.
Making a Reservation
To make a reservation, complete the reservation form and submit by fax or mail. Fax forms to (718) 501-6150. Forms sent by mail should be addressed as follows: Youth Tour Coordinator, Brooklyn Museum, 200 Eastern Parkway, Brooklyn, NY 11238-6052.
Payment
Payment is made upon check-in at the Visitor Center in the Museum’s Rubin Lobby. Payment may be made by credit card, cash, or check. If you wish to use a purchase order, please mail it to the address noted above.

Scheduling Large Groups
When scheduling for large groups, please be aware that no more than sixty students may visit the same gallery in the same time slot.
Cancellations
If you are unable to keep your appointment, please call the Youth Tour Coordinator at (718) 501-6221 as soon as possible. If you do not notify the Museum, your school will be placed on a low-priority waiting list for future reservations.

Preparing Students
Preparing your students for their Museum visit will greatly enhance the experience. In addition to the pre- and post-visit activity suggestions that you receive with your confirmation, resources are available online at www.brooklynmuseum.org/education/educators/educators.php.
We encourage you to use these materials to introduce concepts, vocabulary, and historical or other background information to your class prior to visiting the Museum.
Group Size and Chaperones
One adult must be present for every ten students and must accompany the group at all times. The price of a visit for both guided and self-guided gallery groups includes up to thirty students and five adult chaperones.
School Bus Drop-Off and Parking
Buses may drop off school groups at the rear entrance to the Museum, accessible through the Museum’s parking lot entrance on Washington Avenue. Buses will not be charged for drop-off.
Depending on availability, buses may park in the parking lot located at the rear of the Museum. The charge is $6 for the first hour, $3 each additional hour. Fees are due in cash to the parking lot attendant and may not be included in the check payments for group visits.
Upon Arrival
The rear entrance opens into the Rubin Lobby, where your assigned Museum educator will meet your group. Museum educator-led groups will not be admitted to the Museum before 10 a.m.; self-guided groups will not be admitted before 11 a.m. Teachers must register at the Visitor Center upon arrival.
Late Arrivals
Please be prompt. Classes that arrive late may receive a condensed lesson owing to scheduling limitations. Classes arriving more than a half-hour late may not be able to receive a guided gallery visit.
Lunch
There are no bag lunch facilities available in the Museum, and the Museum Café cannot accommodate school groups. There is a public plaza in front of the Museum, and two parks, Mount Prospect Park and Ronald McNair Park, a short walk from the Museum. If students bring bag lunches to be eaten outside the Museum, the lunches can be left at the Museum’s coat check.
Museum Shop
The Museum Shop offers children’s merchandise such as books, postcards, art supplies, and toys. Only ten students at a time are permitted in the Shop. Teachers and chaperones must supervise both the students in the Shop and those waiting to enter. You may visit the Shop after your Museum educator has completed the program and after you have retrieved your class’s belongings.
